876462 2010-04-14 19:27:00 Hi, we haven't embraced them yet.

Have a few here.
How suitable are they for bathrooms? I understand in the past they were not suitable b/c they take a while to warm up and not good for frequent on offs.

Would the newer Halogen light bulbs be better then?

If you are green then you will have them all over your house.
BUT they have been linked to House fires, Mercury spills if they break, and not suitable for migraine sufferers.
Halogen are good, nice and bright and a 25% saving.

en.wikipedia.org reveals 3-5mg of mercury in a bulb. Would hardly constitute a 'spill' if broken. Would be difficult to see this much if it were a liquid, which it is not (present as a vapour). Sources for your claims? I'm sure incandescents have also caused house fires since they are very hot during operation. Do you have comparable stats for these?

876465 2010-04-15 08:07:00 How many in your family for a bill like that. We are with genesis and pay $190 a month using easy pay. Family of 4, all electric.
Look at getting a reducer on your shower head, parents saw a dramatic improvement in their gas bill when their had one installed

Just starting the spreadsheet now :D
Now when it is warmer, we pay gas and electric as $270 I think. Which isn't bad b/c I see that the daily charge without kW, gas cost approx $50 for a month :annoyed:

I need to locate the Feb or March ones.

But for Jan.
Genesis Household anytime 685 @19.71c/unit = $135.01 incl GST not incl discount.
Daily charge 30x 95.95c/day = $28.78.

GAS:
Contact Living Smart
846 units, 7.312c per unit = $61.86.
Daily charge, 34 days, 1.434$ per day = $48.76.

I think gas units are on the expensive side, just cooking and hot water. We do a have a few fridge/freezers in the garage and laundry each day.

Looking at the older invoices, electricity has peaked above $400 and gas has peaked above $250 :p

876469 2010-04-15 09:55:00 Household is in the inner Wellington suburbs arn't it?

I know Genesis has diff pricing for diff areas I think, well that's how you navigate via their website ...

We're not on a variable plan, just always on, flat rate.
