876611 2010-04-15 07:02:00 The parking people issued an infringment notice and they have the power to do so.

The alleged offence is failing to display a current license label or current wof.

I assume that the said parking people were out there being paid to do a job.

You are a picky old fella, aren't you.
Yes their did their job. but handing out tickets for no wof when you have one just because their deem your tread depth too low.
Totally agree that I deserved my ticket.

876612 2010-04-15 07:11:00 Wonder where my notification from the LTSA was...My mother got ticketed for no registration too (about 3 weeks over), and she also never got a reminder/invoice to pay. She wrote in to say because there was no reminder sent out, she had not noticed it was due. She got the registration done the next day and they let her off the fine.

Worth while writing in about it. Make sure you include the evidence that you got a new registration the next working day.

1. I am picky.
2. I am old.
3. I am Male.
4. I try to read and comprehend what various posters say. Very often the whole story is not posted unfortunately as in your case.

What offence were you actually charged with? You say you took it to Court and I can only assume that you either defended the matter or you tried to get the fine lowered.

Then you go on to say that you deserved the ticket which means at least you accept responsibility for your actions or lack thereof for which I thank you.

876614 2010-04-15 07:31:00 Mum was telling me that dentists and parking wardens have the highest occupational rate of suicide. Not really surprising though, how many people are PLEASED to see a parking warden?? xyz823 (13649)

876616 2010-04-15 07:45:00 I strongly support the parking wardens being vigilant, productive and enthusiastic. Good on them. (Only applies to the Wellington ones though.) R2x1 (4628)

Didn't take it too court, let it go to court so I could drip feed. My point was the parking wardens were in a area that had no parking enforcements in place. So their were there for the revenue gathering only, not to enforce parking entitlements. No rego was the offence.

876619 2010-04-15 11:12:00 " The council has jurisdiction under the Land Transport Act 1998 to fine vehicles without a current warrant of fitness or vehicle registration. Though police will usually fine you immediately for an expired WoF or registration, Wellington parking wardens allow a one-month grace period on these offences before issuing fines.

The 28-day notice your mechanic gives you (a document that enables you to return to the mechanic to have the warrant covered under the fee you've already paid) is simply a contract between you and your mechanic and will not get you off the $200 fine for having no warrant. To avoid being fined by parking wardens for expired paperwork, make sure you get your car checked, any necessary work done, and your new warrant within a month of the expiry date.

Tenix have the contract to provide wardens and they subcontract to Parkwise. With so many people clipping the ticket it's not hard to see why so many are issued. Also the bulk of the License fee goes to ACC so it wouldn't be surprising if Nick Smith wasn't out there issuing tickets to keep the money rolling in.

876620 2010-04-15 21:24:00 I had a short discussion yesterday when I saw a warden writing a ticket to place on the windscreen of a car parked facing the wrong direction.

I suggested that perhaps the driver was British, where in England you're allowed to park on the "wrong" side of the road. He said no matter - he/she will still be liable for the $60 fine.

Bastardo!
