875890 2010-04-13 04:31:00 I do 4m/bit reliably, no disconnections, and in Feb I did 300GB. I only "do" 4m/bit because that's the speed I sync at. I'd be annoyed as if I was getting slower.

Big Time is "ADSL2+ speeds", so if you're sync'ing faster, you should in theory be able to get faster speeds on Big Time. That's why they introduced Big Time over Go Large.

875891 2010-04-13 04:48:00 What's this thing that some individuals been struggling with Go Large then? Modem? Computer setup?

Hey Chill, is it only P2P and gaming sites that are slower, or are they at all?

875892 2010-04-13 04:55:00 There is no such thing as unlimited. Even in the US, they are now putting on caps. Anything that says it is unlimited, has to be restricted in some way. robbyp (2751)
875893 2010-04-13 04:59:00 Anything not national for http is restricted from what I can gather, and even some national stuff like VPN is also shaped, though not much ... Chilling_Silence (9)

When is Telecom/Chorus going to introduce ADSL2 to a person that lives about 10 Km from my place without government intervention?

I can't get ADSL2 anyway.

I might add that I don't need it but I do know one other who may get off the dole.

Potentially never.

Here's the chances of them getting High-speed internet:
Govt Fibre: 75% coverage
Telecom Chorus: 80% coverage

Would be a little rude of the Govt to say "We don't care about this person, but you should"... A case of "Do as I say, not as I do".

Some people are just simply too far in the whops to be viable.

Crikey - I feel like I'm suffering with a 50 GB limit now, admittedly it takes restraint to stay under it.

875897 2010-04-13 10:50:00 I would prefer a plan with a capped amount of international traffic, but unlimited national traffic. Why? That way ISPs don't have to shape the hell out of all types of traffic during peak times in order to be able to make money, and we can have reasonably stable international speeds - while being able to do offsite backups etc. locally without worrying about data costs. somebody (208)
875898 2010-04-15 01:19:00 Take Big Time and make it $30, I reckon that would be good Agent_24 (57)

I never thought Albany in Auckland was in the whops. Nor do I think Tokoroa is in the whops either being on state highway 1.
