1147472 2010-10-25 00:22:00 Any help PLEASE.

Trojan very quickly and dramatically took out my notebook yesterday. AVG and MWB detected and removed but the virus kept reappearing and now can't boot into anything. Blue screen of death saying fatal exception ......computer shutdown. This appears when trying normal boot, last known good, safe mode.

I am happy to reinstall WINXP but would like to move some data from my C: to D: before doing so. My plan is to boot from USB drive and use an explorer like program to copy over the files I want to save and my outlook files.

Does anyone know how to create a boot usb and if there is such a program around that will let me copy file from c: to d:??

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

JTX

1147474 2010-10-25 00:41:00 Or a Linux CD if the notebook has a CD/DVD drive. Snorkbox (15764)

1147476 2010-10-25 00:42:00 Alternatively, you should be able to boot from a Linux live cd like Ubuntu and use that to copy files.

1147478 2010-10-25 00:44:00 OK.

I'm DOS illiterate.....was hoping there was a lazier way with clicks and icons and pictures but will bite my tongue and get on with it.

THANKS:drool

1147479 2010-10-25 00:45:00 So do you have an optical drive then? Linux will give you a graphical interface. Snorkbox (15764)
