876855 2010-04-15 08:31:00 Just thought I'd throw this out there (probably been done before) icow (15313)
876856 2010-04-15 08:37:00 So, what's your favourite then?

Mine is Puppy Linux (at the moment)
although Linux Mint is very good if you don't
want to 'fiddle about too much'

Incidentally, throw is the word you were looking for.:)

876857 2010-04-15 08:38:00 I'm quite torn up between Ubuntu and Windows 7.

I would pick Windows 7 over Ubuntu mainly because of usability. Its a pain in the ass to get all the drivers bloody working and when there is a problem it displays the problem in complete geek speak haha.

I have meddled with Debian and a couple of other distros but Windows 7 gets my vote because it does everything I need it too and it does it well and while looking good.

Also played round with Linux Mint which I found quite good, seemed to work out of the box. Installed puppy linux in a virtual machine just for a geez and it seemed cool.

876859 2010-04-15 08:44:00 Well I wouldnt say Vista is my fav OS, but at least the tuner works properly. It doesnt in Win7. Which is why I'm using it.May go back to Win7, when the bugs have been fixed.

And since I'm using 8 GB, there's no point in using any other version (besides x64)

876860 2010-04-15 08:45:00 I like Windows XP. Does what I want it to do and haven't had a BSOD in years. Ice Road Trucker (15659)
876861 2010-04-15 08:49:00 who was the other nice person who voted Mac? icow (15313)
876862 2010-04-15 09:00:00 Vista of course :D

Can't say anything about Windows 7 as I've only used the final version for about an hour on someone else's computer.

As for Vista, I haven't had a single OS-related problem with it. (A few hardware-related BSODs though - cheap hardware FTL.)

You made it a closed poll.

Snow leopard, haven't had much time on 7 to say its better then snow leopard. But will say its very good from what I have seen. Couldn't say the same for vista or xp when I was using previous versions of osx
