| 876478 | 2010-04-14 08:43:00 | A village in England took on British Telecom and set up their own Broadband network story here (news.bbc.co.uk) | gary67 (56) | ||
| 876479 | 2010-04-14 10:36:00 | I find this interesting: It is estimated that around 2.5 million homes in the UK cannot get broadband speeds of more than 2Mbps. 2.5 million homes is more than the total number of homes in NZ as far as I'm aware?! The government has pledged to offer all homes a minimum speed of 2Mbps (megabits per second) by 2012. But critics say these speeds are far too slow for the ever-increasing demands of web users. There are concerns that up to one third of the country will not be served by next-generation broadband - offering speeds of over 25Mbps. And here we're worried that ADSL2+ will be too slow, our rollout finishing next year (not 2012) offering 80% over 10mbps ;) It's certainly a damn sight faster than 2mbps :p |

Luckily the Government will be fixing that problem ah Chilling :) But yes Britain has nearly exactly the same issue with a backward money hungry incumbent controlling Telco, much the same as in Aussie and here. |
