1148493 2010-10-28 21:49:00 Hi i have a work colleague who has a pc at home that had a OS in raid 0, and a 1tb storage drive. The raid failed due to a faulty hard drive. He removed the 1tb storage and he sent the pc back to the shop to be fixed.
The pc returned with the original setup and plugged the 1tb back in but it wants to format it as it says it is Raw. He cannot format it as it has his backups on it. Running windows 7 64 bit.
What can he do to get his stuff from the storage drive?

TIA

I have checked google and it doesnt come up with much, maybe im not asking the right question?

Do you think a Live linux cd will let him get his stuff from the drive?

1148496 2010-10-28 22:03:00 Most data recovery software should be able to read/recover the data.

The Free version of Easeus (www.easeus.com) says it can.

Personally I use Get Data back, but thats paid Software.

If the Drive is a Backup, then while its good he was doing them, having backups on the same PC, or in a RAID setup is stupid for the exact reason that's happened. A backup should be on another PC, Separate Drive connected Via USB / NAS or another location.
