878701 2010-04-21 02:35:00 What's a good music player that:

- has decent battery life
- doesn't cost too much
- has decent sound quality (ability to drive large headphones would be nice)
- has an OK user interface

?

ipod nano? You pay for what you get and an apple ipod would cover all those requirements. The cheap mp3 players don't usually have good sound.

878705 2010-04-21 05:03:00 Sony or Creative.

Noel Lemmings or DSE normally have pretty good stock on display, you could rock on down there and have a squiz at a few in person.

878707 2010-04-21 06:43:00 My DSE MP3 player sounds good and it's got a nice UI - only costs $80 and doesn't need any extra software. :D pcuser42 (130)
878708 2010-04-21 07:53:00 I second qhat pcuserwinvista has said

Decent battery life - checked
Reason: DSE mp3 player uses disposable battery, which means that you are not bound to a proprietary locked-in battery, therefore allowing easy replacement when the battery has reached its life span.

Doesn't cost much - checked
Reason: It's DSE.

Decent sound quality - half checked
Reason: It sounds good to me, but it may not be true for audiophiles.

Okay user interface - checked
Reason: The navigation menu is simple and easy to use.

I was talking about the Neuron, but I guess both are okay :)

878710 2010-04-21 08:06:00 Ah right.

But frankly, I was recommending the mp3 player based on my biased negative opinion against Apple.
