878229 2010-04-19 20:17:00 Lost my work mobile phone over the weekend, due to corrosion. Apparently it got wet somewhere (don't ask me, the nearest to wet is shower vapour in the bathroom).

My question : the phone is a Telecom R6. Is it possible to save your whole profile (say on my PC) so that if it happens again I can just copy over the profile and not go through the frickin phone's settings to change it to how I like it?

878230 2010-04-19 21:23:00 I believe all the R series fones come with software that allows the uploading and down, loading of contacts on the fone. My motherinlaw has an R7 and that is the case. When the software is run up it asks as to whether you have a R6 or R7.. paulw (1826)
878231 2010-04-19 22:03:00 Yes, I know. The question is : does the R6 stores the profile somewhere specifically so that it can be up/downloaded?

878232 2010-04-19 22:39:00 Wouldnt it be on the simcard if it uses one? Speedy Gonzales (78)
878233 2010-04-19 22:45:00 I don't think so. I got my old simcard back - and I do have all my contact numbers back, but not the profile. I think it is kept somewhere on the phone.

878234 2010-04-19 22:55:00 Ring telecom, you'll soon find out Speedy Gonzales (78)
878235 2010-04-19 23:09:00 Tried that first Speedy - as well as Googling it. Not a lot of joy from that front.

878236 2010-04-20 00:28:00 I would be surprised if any of the R-series phones enabled external backup of a profile. They are just cheap crap made in China by an 'unknown' manufacturer.

Telecom buys them to put their own branding on them, much like Vodafone do with their cheap phones.

If you want a phone you can back up properly, you will need to splash out on a smartphone of some kind.

You gets what you pays for - in phones, as in life...

878237 2010-04-20 00:46:00 Main thing is to save the contacts its only takes a a few minutes to hoon through all the fones menu to change settings to how they were before. I write my preferences on the back page of the fones handbook ie vodafone voice mail no and preset numbers etc. Nokia fone with Nokia suite and in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook contacts is a breeze to manage contacts. I smash my fones on a regular basis they get filled up with oil fall in water drop out of pocket when climbing up digger booms. I just get second hand ones from TM for bugga all.
Does the commie chinese telekom phone have something like Nokia Suite?

878238 2010-04-20 02:56:00 This phone is a Telecom model with a simcard, meaning you save your numbers on the simcard - so at least I've got that.

Thanks for all the advice guys.
