It "unlocks" the space you cant access in windows (when using one hdd thats 2.2TB+ in size). It works in XP, Vista , Win7. Its only for ASUS mobos So, if you're using another brand of mobo, dont use it

1149272 2010-11-01 00:57:00 I'm thinking you mean 2.2+ TB, not GB. inphinity (7274)

1149274 2010-11-01 04:43:00 A bit misleading when they say "The best thing about Disk Unlocker is that it works with every ASUS motherboard, hassle free. " - But then list only certain chipsets...

Still, looks like a pretty good program. I wonder how it works, just some kind of DDO software? I hope someone comes up with something that works on other brands as well...

1149275 2010-11-01 05:18:00 This is good to know, but then it raises other issues... how do you backup such a drive? Will the extra area be seen / recognised by backup/restore software? Is it treated as another partition?

Just how much is visible if your OS goes belly-up?

Pricespy show 3TB drives are now available.

1149276 2010-11-01 10:15:00 Good points... Maybe it would be best to just use hardware and OS which natively support 3TB drives to minimise those kind of issues.

Personally, I don't even have any 2TB drives yet, so I don't desperately need anything like this yet...

By the time I do get around to buying something that big I expect it won't be a problem anymore

1149277 2010-11-01 18:59:00 You can use drives >2TB as long as you convert them to GPT, but can only boot Windows off such a drive if its a 64-bit edition of Vista or later and booting using EFI. Most recent Linux distros will boot fine from a GPT drive (with or without EFI) also. inphinity (7274)
