1148830 2010-10-30 20:28:00 completely different results-
speedtest.slingshot is telling me i have over 6mb/s
speedtest.net is telling me i have 200k/s
the internet is incredibly slow today and has been for the last few days.

1148831 2010-10-30 21:00:00 Personally ... I'd probably go for the independent one .... they have nothing to gain and I've always been suspicious of one's own ISP speed testing ... mine has always been "extreme" (as in fast) through Telecom and speedtest have usually shown a lower speed which I believe is more accurate :D

Have you tried resetting your modem ?

Just tested off both Slingshot and Speedtest .... results the same.

1148832 2010-10-30 21:20:00 Yep, tried reset modem and restarting windows, I'm on the unlimited plan, and being a sunday, it would of course be a little slower, but this slow? seriously? It's taking minutes to load web pages. What i think is happening, is that my speed to the slingshot server is fine, but externally, my speed is being limited. jareemon (5207)

One reason for that is you have fewer hops so it will be faster but not by a great degree.
