1150164 2010-11-03 22:28:00 Hi all,

I've got a bit of a project running at work where it would be beneficial if we could symlink certain files from a network share.

Basically, we want a couple of files stored on a network share so they're backed up nightly, but then we need them symlinked on the client XP OS (NTFS as the FS).

I've found a few things like:
schinagl.priv.at

However it only seems to wanna let me do the whole entire folder, not an individual file.
It's basically got to be an individual file, because where we symlink it to on the client XP OS is a directory with several other potentially massive files in it, which we don't want stored on the fileserver.

Has anybody done anything like this? I know it's not natively possible with XP, they apparently introduced the ability to do this in Windows Vista, but we're not going to be rolling out Windows 7 for quite a while still...

Any thoughts / comments / suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Chill.
