1149997 2010-11-03 02:26:00 Ok so I'm building a new computer, and I've had two recommendations for the video card. I am mainly wanting to use it for programs such as CS5, plus the odd gaming. I had these two picked because I wanted dual DV-I monitors. My question is, could I have a vote on which card people think I should get?

The Sapphire ATI Radeon HD6870 1GB GDDR5 PCIE (www.computerlounge.co.nz) or the EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX460 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E (www.computerlounge.co.nz)? I was recommended the second one due to rendering out in CS5, but would like to hear some opinions on this.

Thanks in advance

1150002 2010-11-03 03:14:00 Thanks for that rawkus1020. Looks like I'm going for the EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX460 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E. Thanks for the help guys. :D dpDesignz (15919)
1150003 2010-11-03 03:15:00 In terms of price vs performance that card is sitting right on the sweet spot, and the main reason, its not ATI. DeSade (984)
1150004 2010-11-03 03:53:00 I'm using a 5870 and it works fine for cs5, gaming is great too, much faster than a gtx460 I don't think the 6870 is priced much different from the 460, and its almost as fast as the 5870, I'd go with the AMD card. Deimos (5715)
1150005 2010-11-03 03:54:00 With the rubbish Catalyst drivers, I wouldn't touch ATI with a 10ft pole. DeSade (984)
1150006 2010-11-03 06:31:00 The Sapphire ATI Radeon HD6870 1GB GDDR5 PCIE (www.computerlounge.co.nz)

OMG! The 6series!!

I'll have the 6970, or 6870x2 or whatever it will be.
And I have no problems with drivers.........
