2010-11-02 00:02:00 | Got a weird one. Dates entered, format as mmm.yyy so Oct 2005 etc Chart the info and the months show up as Jan 2005. I know why as clicking in the cell shows the data as 1/10/2005 so its obviously picking up the "1" as the month as per USA. I can work around by formatting cells as Text but is there a better fix. Related is default paper sizes - If chart is selected when printing then chart only prints but even though every default I can find says A4 it tries printing 8.5x11. any ideas

2010-11-02 00:36:00 | Select the cells that you want to format the date, then go to format cells and under date and time you should be able to change from mmddyyyy to ddmmyyyy... i dont have excel installed at the moment so cant check that yet. | jareemon (5207) | |
2010-11-02 01:52:00 | that won't work as we want the date to display OCT 2005 which is mmm.yyyy and we can't dual formatting | JohnMax (12135) | |

2010-11-02 02:14:00 | I just created a new spreadsheet in Excel 2010. Formatted a cell as date > custom > mmm.yyyy Typed in 02/11/2010 and got "Nov.2010" as I expected. If you want Nov 2010 you need to mask it as mmm yyyy

2010-11-02 02:17:00 | Yes - I can get that BUT when I use those dates as the x axis labels for a chart it will use the 2 out of the 2/11/2005 and say Feb 2005. | JohnMax (12135) | |
2010-11-02 02:28:00 | It seems that the "Chart" takes the number in the cell BEFORE it is converted to your "Custom Format". | Slim (4633) | |
