| 1149536 | 2010-11-01 20:53:00 | I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop which is connected to our wireless network via a Dlink Airplus G wireless acess point. The computer has security enabled. A recent problem with the laptop caused me to reinstall a backup of the Hard Drive. Since doing this the laptop will not go online, instead asking for a security password or pass phrase. I know exactly what the password is yet the laptop claims it is wrong. How do I delete/remove the previous password, so I can install another one ? I'm not sure, but WEP may have been selected as the security system, which is presently installed. The modem/router is a Dlink ADSL2+ DSL 504T. The laptop can "see" the wireless network but cannot connet to it ! |

But generally you go into the wireless LAN connections, Adapter settings , Wireless tab and it will list all the networks previously connected, select it then delete. Then reconnect to the Network with the new password. |

Sure you're not using WPA or WPA2? - the laptop encryption type has to match the AP one as well as having the correct password. You should be able to select the encryption type & password from the connection properties manually - try right-clicking on the wireless entry with the correct SSID. Failing that, you could try a temporary wired connection & check the AP's wireless settings via its browser interface - assuming you know the AP's IP address. |
