879465 2010-05-03 20:47:00 Yeah pretty much what PinoyKiw said - can't really discriminate based on type of payment method, in theory finance offers, credit cards, eftpos, and cash price etc should be all the same.

They will talk about a discount when customers talk about paying cash but the retailer needs to be able to be prepared to offer the same deal on finance if the customer turns around & ask's for it.

Commerce commission hands out pretty serious fines to offenders!

879466 2010-05-04 10:06:00 About a year ago at the Farmers, we asked about what discount they would give for cash and got the following......

We are not allowed to offer discount for cash as that discriminates against those people that don't have cash and / or would otherwise not be able to afford but would also like to purchase said item.

My reply to that was if they cannot afford it, they shouldn't be buying it anyway which got rather a hostile look.
That really shows how screwed up the world has become. It almost seems like a lot of firms don't even like cash these days.
