880092 2010-04-26 08:37:00 All politicians turn into morons when they are in opposition and say things they wish they hadn't when they get back in..

Anyway, isn't the Minister for Auckland doing his/her job?

Actually, aren't all politicians morons regardless of which side they are on ??

880095 2010-04-26 08:43:00 Sorry. That would come under the foreshore and seabed mess would it not?
Quite likely claims are being drafted as we tremble.

Agreed. At one time I thought seriously about claiming "customary rights" for a little piece of land near Cape Terawhiti. My Father and I used to walk around 14 miles from Island Bay and stayed in a cave thus establishing residency. My Father's Father used to do the same thing with his Son. A family tradition was born way back. We used to spear Butterfish off the rocks there, salt them down and pack them back home.

Crayfish, speared off the same rocks, carted up the beach and dropped into a 4 gallon tin full of boiling seawater. You wouldn't call the King your Uncle. I went there for the first time in 1949 and through until around 1975 on a regular basis.

I last walked around there in 2007 and didn't carry a pack. I don't think I could do it again at my age. At one time you could drive down the Karori Stream to the coast and then walk about three miles.

Later we were able to drive to the northern end of the Cook Strait power cable in Oteranga Bay as Dad's brother was in charge of the Substation which more or less overlooked the cave we used to stay in. I have photos to prove my claim BTW.

Now. Just got to find my tribal birth certificate!

Sorry for the digression folks.

To attempt to get back on the off topic topic. There was a poll recently which asked should Hamilton become a "Super City" including the whole of the Waikato Province to which the people answered a resounding no.

880097 2010-04-26 10:01:00 Phil Goff is doing a great service to NZ - he's ensuring that we will have a decent (by that, I mean lesser of two evils) government for the next 4 years. Keep up the good work Phil (and please continue to campaign on raising income taxes, not putting GST back to 12.5%, and publicly supporting arguably the most corrupt politician we've had in this country in recent times - Winston Peters). somebody (208)
880098 2010-04-26 11:41:00 Ah! But he says 1/3 of people live in AK so they should have more say.
and 1/5 of the people in Auckland weren't even born in this country.

880099 2010-04-26 11:47:00 And the Super City has a new Logo which was supposed to be original and wasn't apparently.

What are these people paid for?

:clap you missed one. Pity everyone still likes to think of JK as PM with all the stupid stuff he does and no one seems to mind

880101 2010-04-26 21:43:00 Well John Key is the PM, get used to it, take the message onboard and run with it.
Although he wont get my vote next election (I wont vote for anyone) if he mucks with the piss laws, raises gst, raises age for drivers licence.
