1150752 2010-11-06 21:58:00 Hi,
I have a friend who is using laptop win XP home. The homepage comes up normal but when she goes onto any other site the web pages don't fit properly and she has to scroll across to view all the content.
Is it a resolution problem?

1150753 2010-11-06 22:07:00 What browser is she using ?? Sounds a bit weird if the homepage loads OK and others don't ... if it was resolution it should affect the homepage as well. If she has a scroll mouse, ask her to hold ctrl key down and use the scroll wheel to zoom in - out ... see if that works.

Otherwise, it could be a setting in the browser .... but can't say unless we know the browser she's using.

1150754 2010-11-06 22:14:00 Firefox, and she says zoom in or out using trackpad while holding down Ctrl does not fix it. She has no mouse. A bit tricky cos she lives other side of towmn and i'm on the phone to her.

1150755 2010-11-06 22:17:00 OK ... I'm no Firefox expert LL so I'll bow out of this one and leave it to those with more knowledge that I. SP8's (9836)
1150756 2010-11-06 22:24:00 Sounds like a screen resolution thing to me (like she's got it set to 800x600 or similar, and her home page happens to fit that size, most websites default to 1024x768 or autosize to that or bigger). feersumendjinn (64)

Those were my first thoughts exactly, I may have to talk her through changing the resolution. She is only 13 but thinks she knows it all, except when something goes wrong.
Thank you for the input guys.

1150758 2010-11-08 10:50:00 FireFox, Google Chrome and Opera all respond to:-
Ctrl + or - for screen size, which is the same as Ctrl Wheely.
Ctrl 0 = Default screen size.
Firefox will remember next time you visit that web site.
Shift Wheely = back/forward

Thanks for that Mzee, yes we tried those, but in the end it turned out to be a Firefox update that caused it and a simple restart fixed it.
