880913 2010-04-29 03:03:00 Hi,

We are moving to a fatter pipe & doing some server maintenance / upgrades.

Any suggestions / issues can be sent to this user going forward or the admin contact as we enter a new phase of engagement with our audience.

This login will be 'manned' by the PC World team in shifts from now on.

As always thanks to chilling silence & jen for their hardwork.

well, we switched over but 'provider' difficulties meant we had to switch back. they promise it's all sorted for another attempt tonight.

At least we upgraded the server & other things last night as planned.

Thanks for your patience.

880918 2010-04-29 03:31:00 Hi Jamuz,

We will be working on a revamp of the PC World digital offerings over the next 3 or so months with some exciting ideas to hopefully show you all we do care.

Can't say much more at this stage but there will be some big changes / additions.

Unfortunately, advertising (read revenue) is a necessary evil in a world of bean counters, we also have some ideas to strike a better balance & hopefully promote info of interest from the revamped website.

Feel free to send me any suggestions.

880919 2010-04-29 03:33:00 fatter pipe means we are moving from a DSL connection (only option available when we moved offices last year) to multi meg connection. idgadmin (6547)
880920 2010-04-29 03:34:00 thanks for that

with regards to ads, i think they should be on the other parts of the site but not on the forums side of things.

its the part of the site i visit the most. i dont mind the ads everywhere else but not on the best part of the PCW site

members scripts are the only way(at the moment) to keep the forum usable really:2cents:

880921 2010-04-29 03:41:00 GameJunkie,

It will be the PC World staff (taking turns) making a presence from now on & any tech issues will be forwarded to me to sort out.

I actually have no real problem with the ads on this site. They aren't near as obnoxious as many other forums I've visited.
