1150827 2010-11-07 07:36:00 After changing password and making it so that it doesn't broadcast it's name I can't access the router setup menu asks for authentication but seems it's been changed again and ideas now?:badpc::badpc::badpc: PC builder (15482)
1150828 2010-11-07 09:27:00 Some routers will allow filtering on MAC addresses. If yours allows it use the filter so only the computers you want on the net are allowed to use it.

Solves a lot of problems.

1150829 2010-11-07 09:31:00 Are you connecting to it Via a Ethernet cable or by wireless ?

OR is it allowing you to the log on screen, and once again wrong user name / Password ?

1150830 2010-11-07 11:46:00 I second the 'report him to the cops' idea. Take that ****er down, it's stealing bandwidth you paid for. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1150831 2010-11-07 14:10:00 Is there a MAC filtering option? Ninjabear (2948)
1150832 2010-11-07 14:24:00 Looks like there is little you can do as you want the neighbour to have access and can't lock down the network fully for that reason. Snorkbox (15764)

I reckon PCB should just drop the neighbour until all this is sorted, then go over and show them what to do. Sounds like the bad guy is sitting watching everything you do so I'd do as much as possible off air/line.

If you have done all the security stuff properly and it gets hacked again then entry is most likely via the neighbour, so at that point it just isn't worth the hassle or the risks!

Explain nicely why you have to drop them, and then they can go get their own service.

You can't be a mug all your life.

1150835 2010-11-08 07:07:00 Hi PC Builder, did you change the router admin password (used to login to the router) AND the WPA2 wireless access password (used to connect a computer to it)?

If you changed both to two new passwords that can't easily be guessed then I'm with Billy T that it's most likely someone is passing on your passwords . Either the neighbour, or someone who has access to your PC .

A good password should be at least 14 characters long and not something common like 12345 or password . To get a good password you might try random . org ( . random . org/strings/" target="_blank">www . random . org) or advice like this ( . microsoft . com/protect/fraud/passwords/create . aspx" target="_blank">www . microsoft . com) .
