| 1151051 | 2010-11-12 01:24:00 | Thanks pctek, Chill and Trev I went into PB Technology to identify something lesser. Ben said that by the time they put in a lesser chip and video card it would only save me about $30. However thinking about it he was only thinking in terms of adapting the system we had been looking at. Having a look on the PB Tech website I see - PB 1247 Intel i3 2.93GHz UG Box 4GB DDR3 1TB HDD(No Windows Incl)NEW MODEL PROCESSOR DVDRW $799.00 +gst and PB 1229D UG Box intel E6500 2.93GH 4G RAM , 500GB HDD, 8400GS 512MB Dedicated VGA , DVDRW SND NET (No Windows Incl) $599.00 +gst Do either of these seem to be sufficient ? (I will need to spend another $140 on either to get Windows 7 Home, of course) Misty  |

| 1151054 | 2010-11-12 03:00:00 | Or you could get one one from Playtech. Not sure what exaclty you need for a photoshop computer but I'm sure you can get it just right from here and you can choose to have windows already installed. www.playtech.co.nz |

| 1151056 | 2010-11-12 05:20:00 | I do photography too. Yes, save your money. I bought this $250 or so ATI card 2yr ago when I built this PC, never played a game on it, ha. |

| 1151057 | 2010-11-12 06:28:00 | PB 1229D UG Box intel E6500 2 . 93GH 4G RAM , 500GB HDD, 8400GS 512MB Dedicated VGA , DVDRW SND NET (No Windows Incl) $599 . 00 +gst Looks like someone's trying to get rid of their old stock! I don't have much faith over the 8400GS . And the E6500: that's the old-generation Core 2 Duos with 65nm, if I remembered right? Of course, you probably won't really notice the performance slowdown to be quite dramatic, but frankly, why would anyone buy outdated parts, when there's better ones available? If you're going to use Photoshop, may I please suggest you the AMD Athlon X4 . Though it's more expensive than most Intel Pentiums, but it's a quad core, and performs better than i3 in some places (i3 being a dual core + HT) . Besides, the graphics on 880G is a bit faster than i3's GMA HD (I heard from others), and motherboard is cheaper than a H55, too . Moreover, if you happen to pick up a cheap ATI card later, you can make a Hybrid Crossfire with the Integrated card . BUT, the integrated graphics in the i3 is better than the one on the AMD board when it comes to HD Playback . |
