Have you found the laptops' graphics sufficient for the 1080p screens? We've done quite a few, yes . Given almost all laptops (from HP, Dell, Toshiba, Acer etc) now have 15 . 6 or 17 . 3" panels, a 1080 screen fits in physically no worries . As for the graphics card, all the ones we've done so far have had dedicated graphics; which is pretty commonplace nowadays even on low end models . The tricky part is being sure of the capability; because the LCD/VGA Port are one interface, with the HDMI being separate, you can't just assume it will do it by reading the spec sheet . Most have no issue (e . g . the very popular Radeon HD 4xxx series), but we still always check on a case by case basis . If it's a consumer product you'll pretty much always need a replacement signal cable (which are cheap) as the installed ones can't handle high resolutions . Business models are a bit different; as often CTO models can have hi-res panels, so the signal cable is generic for all resolutions . There's a tonne of different resolution/shaped panels so there's always an upgrade of sorts available regardless of what the laptop is; may not be 1080 but there's choices . TL;DR: Most models have no issues taking a Higher Res panel, it just involves a bit of research to make sure the graphics chip can power it and the right signal cable is available . If you'd like some assistance let me know the model number and I can get back to you with the details . |
