1150612 2010-11-06 00:02:00 I have an eeepc701, currently running an n'lited version of XP. I was wondering, with tablets for sale etc.; why not turn this machine into a tablet (but with the lid)?
It's small, so very portable, I've bought it (paid for). Hence the question.
Is it possible to install Android on this machine?
Anyone tried this?

1150613 2010-11-06 00:17:00 have a look here (googlesystem.blogspot.com). rebels181 (14841)
1150614 2010-11-06 00:21:00 I would suspect not, androids input system is based on MT inputs not Keyboards and mice, drives could be coded i guess, also the processor is probably out of the actual software's understanding (won't recognize it) how big is the screen? most of the display might look distorted as the image resources would be quite small, designed for 800x600 native resolutions.

Cool idea but not practically possible. if it IS possible though i'd love to use it on one of our MT tables (multi touch tables) a native touch OS would be pretty interesting, also the iOS for iPad would be nice but thats pretty much impossible.

you could try on a virtual OS that emulates a mobile platform maybe, no idea where you would get the install source from

1150615 2010-11-06 00:27:00 Yes it's possible - Acer were selling dual-booting Android/XP netbooks a little while ago.

See: www.youtube.com for Android running on an Eee 701.

To be honest though, what's wrong with your nLited XP install? You'll probably find Android quite frustrating since it really wasn't designed for netbooks.

Actually, you're probably right about the frustration, as I've just got it running off a usb drive and it's quite awkward

Nothing really wrong with the nlited xp, just had it in my mind there might be something better for the eeepc (plus android seems to be the flavour of the month at the moment)

1150620 2010-11-06 06:49:00 I was thinking about this sort of thing earlier on, this afternoon, while helping my son milk, and the thought struck me; "didn't the original Xandros install do all this anyway". Oh well, that's the nature of us on this forum, we must tweak and configure:rolleyes: jcr1 (893)
