Do you mean the program valve uses to sell games?

881532 2010-05-04 06:52:00 Yes, the program which Valve forces you to use if you want to legally play games released on it. Agent_24 (57)

I like Steam, games are way cheaper than retail. It saves me that extra :2cents: (and maybe a bit more)

881534 2010-05-04 10:58:00 Cheaper prices is nice but they didn't have to make using Steam the only option.

Given the choice of a Steam purchase or physical disc, I would choose the disc any day (even if it was more expensive)

But ONLY if the disc did not require Steam (which unfortunately does not seem to be true)

The only game I know of where this is not the case is Trackmania United Forever (although I had to order the game from the UK because the DVD version in stores here requires Steam)

No matter what medium you buy Half-Life 2 on, you still must install Steam.

I do not want Steam, I just want the game and nothing more. I do not need some stupid program clogging up my memory and hard drive and which provides me with absolutely no benefit, but a lot of annoyance instead.

Piracy solves all these problems, and is even cheaper ;)

881535 2010-05-04 10:59:00 didnt have to install steam on my xbox to play HL2.. GameJunkie (72)
881536 2010-05-04 11:03:00 My mistake, should have specified it's only the case for PC versions

But I could never play an FPS game with an Xbox controller...
