Intel X58 Chipset Socket 1366 ATX ICH10R Support Core i7 Processor Extreme Edition DDR3 2000 QPI Up To 6.4GT/s SATAII Raid CrossFireX 2xGB Lan 8 Channel Sound 3x1394a USB3.0 SATA3

RAM:

This: Kingston 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 3)

or this: Kingston 6GB 1600MHz C8 DDR3 HyperX Non-ECC CL8 (8-8-8-24) DIMM (Kit of 3)

or this: Kingston 6GB 2000MHz C9 DDR3 HyperX Non-ECC CL9 (9-9-9-27) DIMM (Kit of 3)

Will there be any noticeable differences in performance among the above 3 types of RAM? The 1333MHz option is much cheaper than the other 2.

Your comments, please.:thanks

1152040 2010-11-11 22:12:00 There will be a performance difference, but how noticable it is or isn't will depend entirely on how much the applications you're using saturate memory bandwidth.

For a lot of users, they would probably not notice the differenc under most circumstances. Personally, I would go with Corsair's CMX6GX3M3A2000C9.

1152041 2010-11-12 03:05:00 unless you plan on overclocking or tweaking timings the RAM wont run at it's stated speed anyway, core i7 processors lock the memory speed to whatever is normal for that model CPU - my i7 920 for example locks my RAM at 1066 despite it being 1333 specced corsair RAM.

Do some research on the CPU you intend to use with regards to memory speed :)

Reviews I've read the speed makes very minmal difference anyway with the extra bandwidth of triple channel making up for it.

If you want to choose between the three you mentioned however, I'd go with the 2nd one.

1152043 2010-11-12 07:14:00 HyperX is cheaper.
I noticed Corsair failing rather a lot lately.

I went with the basic Kingston in mine. Just stick loads of it in there.

1152044 2010-11-12 08:25:00 Go for the 1600MHz one. With 2000MHz the memory controller on the CPU will likely be overvolted. qazwsxokmijn (102)
