1151986 2010-11-11 09:01:00 Doing a re-install on a Compaq v2000, and cannot find this driver. Have tried various drivers on driverguide, looked around the net, but nothing seems to work.

Anyone per chance have a driver disc? Or know where a working driver is?
Also need the Mass Storage Device driver (both I assume to be within a generic chipset driver).

I think (and don't quote me as neither Everest nor Belarc were much help with this) the chipset is an Intel 965 Express?

1151987 2010-11-11 09:02:00 Go to the HP site, and search for the model Speedy Gonzales (78)
1151988 2010-11-11 09:32:00 Been there, done that

Entered in V2000 compaq in search, came back with an Intel tool which then looked for the best drivers for my hardware. This then reported that the drivers were not supportive of my hardware.

This I assume means the tool thinks it is not Intel, yet HP says that Compaq v2000 use Intel

1151989 2010-11-11 09:36:00 What version of windows is on it. Could be this (h10025.www1.hp.com). Type Compaq V2000 in not just V2000 Speedy Gonzales (78)
1151990 2010-11-11 10:51:00 Type in the service tag number (as advised here)
h10025.www1.hp.com
Number will be found on the bottom of your notebook, this will locate the exact drivers you need for YOUR machine. They make tens to hundreds of variations of any model.

But once again, I received the "Unsupported chipset" error... still to re-hit driverguide with this new info though.. do that after work

I am really hoping someone still has a disc, or even the similar model that they can get the drivers off with (silly me should have done this at the start)

Ooops more info:

Model: Compaq Presario VT2418AU
OS: XP Home

1151992 2010-11-11 19:29:00 If you think its P65 Express, its probably this (downloadcenter.intel.com). Those are the Intel chipset drivers. Dont always rely or driverguide or any other site. Whatever you need, will either be on the manufacturer's site. Or a site like Intel, if it uses Intel drivers Speedy Gonzales (78)
1151993 2010-11-11 20:14:00 Try This - go here (www.intel.com) - intel and get the chipset drivers it should fix the problem.

You are after the i855GM/GME chipset.

According to This review (laptoplogic.com) thats what it uses.

BUT

I just found an old dead V2000 in my junk pile (no CD or HDD sorry) and it says its got a Radeon Xpress 200M for graphics - No Bull Sh1T (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG). Chipset just visable at bottom ---- The ATI drivers (h10025.www1.hp.com) which "should" include the SM bus

Try These (h10025.www1.hp.com) for the mass storage problem. Found From this forum (forum.notebookreview.com)

1151994 2010-11-11 20:27:00 The V2418AU uses a Radeon Xpress 200M chipset, not an Intel chipset. inphinity (7274)
1151995 2010-11-12 04:38:00 Yess !! Nailed it .. thank you all; especially wainuitech and inphinity

Conclusion: ok I already knew the graphics driver was ATi (not sure how I found that out but that was already sussed.
Thanks to inphinity: the sm bus driver is found here (support.amd.com) (South Bridge Driver) - yes I know.. Win 2K, but XP is a modded 2K :p
And thanks to wainuitech, the mass storage driver was indeed found here (h10025.www1.hp.com)

Thank you all for your help and input :D
