| 1151686 | 2010-11-09 21:05:00 | I have just purchased a HP new laptop with Windows 7 installed. I am still using a NEC with WinXP SP3 installed. I am currently in a hostel that has unsecure wireless connection. The old XP will logon via a user/password screen that loads when I load Firefox or IE. When I enter the password the wireless connection completes and I am then online. The Win7 on the new computer does not bring up the logon screen when I load IE or FF. When I check the Win7 wireless settings there is an indication that the local router is connected (Bent Prop Inn - Guest) but that there is no internet access. The wireless switch shows "on". I am running VIPRE Premium on both machines but can't figure out what I've done differently on the Win7 machine. Any suggestions? |

I used to have a unsecured network but always made sure new people were allowed and registered using the router control settings before they were allowed access. Ask your admin or something because they probably made it so that you need to register before using it. | PC builder (15482) | ||
