| 1151519 | 2010-11-09 01:36:00 | Hi I've want to put together a film to demonstrate, with a commentary, how to operate a piece of software. I've tried three freebies so far FreeScreenCapturer, Camstudio 2.0 and Camstudio 2.6 beta. There are pros and cons for each, so has anyone got any other suggestions? Thanks |

| 1151524 | 2010-11-12 00:19:00 | Hi Folks Thanks for the suggestions. I messed around a bit with a few offerings and for my needs ( very simple) the best solution was FreeScreenCapturer. This saves the screen activity, with audio commentary, in wmv format which seems to upload to Youtube OK Picture and sound quality is fine for what I want and it will even. capture video playing back thru' WMP Classic Home Cinema. I discovered I could reduce the file size quite a bit by converting the wmv to an mp4 with VLC Media Player (though for some reason converted wmv's created with my webcam either lose the sound or play it back distorted). So, it's sorted for free. Thanks Footnote: I've just downloaded Ashampoo's Snap 3 from http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ but haven't played with it yet. Make sure you read the comments about registering and capturing sound. |
