1152236 2010-11-12 10:22:00 The active@disk image bootable CD will make an image, then that can be put back on the new drive. its good for 21 Days (the trial) wainuitech (129)
1152237 2010-11-12 10:26:00 im using "Easeus todobackup" that "AvonBill" suggested.

the 160gb is in an external enclosure and the software is cloning the 120gb on to the 160gb.

its at 39%

1152239 2010-11-12 13:29:00 It's done. The WD 160GB hard drive is in, and i cannot believe how fast my pc is running!!

For some reason, when i cloned it, it partitioned the HD to the size of the old one, so its only saying 120GB (115GB to be exact) instead of the 160GB (149GB to be exact)

Is this fixable, or should i just leave it?

1152240 2010-11-12 19:10:00 It's fixable just need to expand the partition gary67 (56)
1152241 2010-11-13 01:55:00 I'm not trying to sound dumb, as i know how to do things with partitions etc..

But what is the best and safest way?

I don' want to bugger up the hard drive.

1152242 2010-11-13 02:37:00 I've always booted from a CD, something like Paragon Partition Manager, or have been using Partition Wizard (www.partitionwizard.com) lately, its free and works on most drives - I say most, as for some reason it doesn't like some PC's. The ISO is on the left under bootable CD -- Then you should see the unused area of the drive, (hopefully its at the end of the drive) and simply move the slider to take the full capacity.

"sometimes" when working within windows it can give a few problems as in not wanting to change as the OS in use.

1152243 2010-11-13 20:33:00 I use mostly either Gparted, Active@ or Acronis true Image all from the bootable CD gary67 (56)
