1152046 2010-11-11 22:06:00 I have a client who wants to sell a service on their website. Requirement is a user clicks an option to register for the service, fills out a registration form and has the option to purchase via credit card, bank deposit or cheque with each option providing an invoice.

Client already has an account with DPS.

I am not a web designer but can build basic websites but haven’t had the need to do any of the above.

What suggestions do you have? I was thinking something like OS Commerce where the user would register and have the option to purchase like any other online shop. OS Commerce might be an over kill so suggestions welcome.

I would like to keep it as simple as possible.

1152047 2010-11-11 23:44:00 One way is to advertise with Google's Adwords (i.e. PPC for it's search engine and content network) to send traffic to the web site, with DPS set up on the site. But requires, as I found out, a lot of bidding & keyword optimization campaign techniques to stay within budget.

Also requires landing page optimization, userability, and good site architecture to actually get conversions (i.e. ctr or sales), particularly in a competitive field - which can also involve testing as well. Here's some articles on: landing conversions optimization (searchengineland.com), landing tips (searchengineland.com), and here. 1152048 2010-11-13 22:12:00 Thanks but maybe I didn't write my requirements clear enough or choose a good heading.
I am not wanting to advertise the website at this stage, but need some suggestions on the backbone software/code to make it work bearing if mind the requirements in my first post.

1152049 2010-11-15 10:18:00 Hi Berryb
One option that works really well for someone that does not have alot of design experience but knows a bit is using a WordPress CMS, find a good theme and use a plugin called e-Commerce. It works really well, is flexible and can do what you are after.

It is also DPS compatible as far as I can tell.

Hope that helps.
