2010-11-16 02:44:00 | You will need to factor in the cost of RAM as well since it's probably not going to be the same type as the old set | gary67 (56) | |
2010-11-16 02:51:00 | If you need ram as well you should be able to get Phenom 965 and some ram and motherboard from computer lounge under $600

2010-11-16 03:12:00 | What are you using your computer for? If you are planning to upgrade to a brand new MB, chances are you'll have to get a couple of DDR3 rams as well. The new chipsets don't support DDR2 anymore. NOTE: all prices are taken from Ascent. They might be a tad more expensive than other retailers, I think it's more relevant to use their prices than the ones on PriceSpy. CPU: AMD Phenom X4 955 BE ($246.91) www.ascent.co.nz MB: ASRock 890GM Pro3 ($193.63) www.ascent.co.nz RAM: Corsair Value Select DDR3-1333 2*2GB ($142.05 before discount) www.ascent.co.nz Total: $582.59

2010-11-16 03:43:00 | or (all prices from Playtech or Computer Lounge though it isnt that hard to ask for price matches at Computer Lounge) Phenom II x4 955 - $219 www.computerlounge.co.nz ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 - $165 www.computerlounge.co.nz Kingston Value Ram 4GB (2x2GB) - $109 www.playtech.co.nz Total - $493 This leaves room to possibly upgrade the CPU to the Phenom II x4 965 if you wished. OR i5 760 - $299 www.computerlounge.co.nz ASUS P7H55-M/USB3 H55 -$198.94 www.computerlounge.co.nz Kingston Value Ram 4GB (2x2GB) - $109 www.playtech.co.nz Total - $606.94 You can probably find a cheaper motherboard to make this come below $600

2010-11-16 09:08:00 | nicely done guys, i'd personally go for the i5, but that's just me. Agreed. I'd choose it too, if Ascent didn't sell it so expensively. Just out of interest, chuanwai, what's your graphics card?
