1153232 2010-11-16 01:01:00 Currently i have a 2-3 year old pc, looking for an upgrade, Im wanting a new mb and cpu. Im currently using a gigabye P35C-DS3R, and an intel core 2 E6750. Im on a budget of $600, im looking for advise on which mb and chipset, im not a overclocking type of person so it doesn't concern me in that department. Thanks in advance chuanwai (12518)
1153233 2010-11-16 02:44:00 You will need to factor in the cost of RAM as well since it's probably not going to be the same type as the old set gary67 (56)
1153234 2010-11-16 02:51:00 If you need ram as well you should be able to get
Phenom 965 and some ram and motherboard from computer lounge under $600

1153235 2010-11-16 03:12:00 What are you using your computer for?

If you are planning to upgrade to a brand new MB, chances are you'll have to get a couple of DDR3 rams as well. The new chipsets don't support DDR2 anymore.

NOTE: all prices are taken from Ascent. They might be a tad more expensive than other retailers, I think it's more relevant to use their prices than the ones on PriceSpy.

Agreed. I'd choose it too, if Ascent didn't sell it so expensively.

Just out of interest, chuanwai, what's your graphics card?

1153241 2010-11-16 22:06:00 Why would you buy from ascent over computer lounge? Ascent are so expensive... HarKon (15926)
