883740 2010-05-11 00:50:00 A couple of days ago I read a story on Ngapuhui claims.

The person spoken to alleged that Ngapuhi did not sign the treaty and I can't remember who that was.

Paraphasing it was said that Ngapuhi did not see the treaty or sign same and then said, "Even if we did sign the treaty we didn't do it to become paupers in our own land."

That, in my opinion, is the same as me saying in Court that I never assaulted my Wife and even if I did she deserved it.:waughh:

Possibly. Not all Maori are dopey and I suspect that some Maori are rather annoyed by activists.

Then we have John Key saying to his Party faithful in a speech that occured last weekend that there will be some changes that may concern them.

883744 2010-05-11 01:16:00 I agree, not all Maori are dopey, some however, push
for things that they have little hope of achieving.
That failure, then fuels their feelings of injustice, whether
valid or not.

The 1840 was the second treaty, for all the maoris in NZ but 5 years previously the Northland maoris had signed up to an agreement.
