| 1152326 | 2010-11-15 11:23:00 | With a max baud rate of 9600 bps? err, slooooooooooow. As it happens I have an external Modem here that plugs into a serial port and it's a 56K effort. Works perfectly under WinXP. |

| 1152327 | 2010-11-16 11:12:00 | Thanks for the replies. Feersum - thanks for that link - it is an interesting take on searching on the Trade Me site. I had already done at least 2 searches in the last week by navigating to the Modem category then searching in that for pcmcia and got about 6 hits each time. But your search on 'modem pcmcia', presumably starting from square 1, pulled about 150 or so hits! Several of those are interesting candidates (that I didn't get) to follow up. As it happens I have bought a modem (that we both found) and am awaiting its delivery. It was very much a punt, though, as I have not been able to establish whether or not it will work with XP (this despite trying for week so far to drum this info out of the distributor/manufacturer!). Snorkbox - thanks for that offer. I am keeping a note of it but an external modem is not the ideal solution because of the lack of space. I may send you a PM at a later stage if I can't get a pcmcia modem |
