1153168 2010-11-15 20:49:00 My friend works at mobil and he got robbed at knifepoint (huge knife) and the high-quality security cameras got it all (he didnt even try to hide his face or anything) anyway the police got him the next day (found him at the pub gambling his steal away on the pokies) and gave my mate a copy of the security footage. It's 4 videos in about 20 x 2mb .dat files, then a small exe player (fsmplayerlite), which opens all the video files at the same time (multiple camera angles) and displays them in a grid on the screen, so they can be played in time sync with each other. All these files are contained in a zip file, so normally I can put the zip on any computer and open the fsmplayer exe and it will play all the vids in sync, but I'm wanting to merge 2 of the vids into 1, playing, still in sync, side by side (making it widescreen). Any ideas on how to do this?
[EDIT]: I've just found that fsm player has a convert function, so it's converting to avi now, but I'm not sure weather it's converting all the files or just one of them or what... I'll keep you posted...
Any ideas in the meantime?

1153169 2010-11-15 20:56:00 The program (www.wondershare.com) I use, looks like it supports dat. Dont know what the limitations are, if you dont register it

It loads most formats. And can convert them. You can also edit / cut what you dont want. Then once you've edited it, convert it to whatever format. And also merge all of the files into one file (in whatever format)

1153170 2010-11-15 21:45:00 Thanks speedy I looked at the program but its way too expensive lol, anyway I realised that in fsm player's convert options is a "channel" setting, which i thought was audio (of which there is none) but turns out it's each video's selector for conversion. So I'm converting the second video now.

So is there a free program to merge the two avi files so that they will play side by side at the same time in a single video file?

1153171 2010-11-15 21:51:00 So all of the files are about 40mb?? Send them here. I'll do it :p I think you can try it before you buy it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1153172 2010-11-15 21:56:00 each converted avi file is 100mb, and theres two of them...
Ive just watched the 1st one, and its going too fast, is there a way to slow it down to maybe half speed? i can do it in wmp but how can i save it at half speed?

[EDIT]: Nevermind, found how to do it... gimme a few minutes :)

1153173 2010-11-15 23:03:00 Each video is 2fps, @ 1135x852, 3957kbps, durtion 3:35. AVI file size is 100mb each.
Can I still send them to you? What's the best way? File host site? Torrent? Email?

1153176 2010-11-15 23:24:00 Ok i have virtual dub, now how do i merge the videos side by side? jareemon (5207)
1153177 2010-11-15 23:24:00 Well I dont use torrents or P2P. Its probably too big for email it'll probably kill it lol. Only other way is Skype. Thats the only IM program I use besides Mirc

File host site is OK if its fast, and if it doesnt have that annoying captcha crap

Umm or use Moviemaker, I think that can load avi. Then add both files then burn it or make another file
