1457390 2019-01-18 00:57:00 Must have been the wet weather over the last week. Our kitchen has been attacked by the little blighters this morning. Laid lots of bait, the NO Ants Gel bait and after a long drawn out battle, I think I have won. All gone from the kitchen part of the kitchen/family room and down to a baited area of about of a square foot of wall and floor which I where I am pretty sure their entry point.

Ken :( ;)

1457391 2019-01-18 01:44:00 I don't miss the white-footed ants I had back in Ranui.
They don't share poison in the nest. The only solution was to seal every tiny gap as I found them.

It took a lot of No More Gaps.

here there are some ants but the normal variety, thankfully.

1457392 2019-01-18 01:45:00 The best and cheapest way I have found to get rid of ants is a spray bottle of white vinegar. They will not cross it to get to anything. A couple of puffs onto where ever they ary coming in is magic. CliveM (6007)
1457393 2019-01-18 02:02:00 We've had shocking ants this summer. Never had an issue before. I got a bunch of those little plastic bait stations, and some 'Xtermanant' (think that's how it's spelled) gel bait from Mitre 10. Had to clean and refill them daily for a few weeks but seem to have got them now. Some of that Ant Sand is quite cunning too if they are hiding around concrete paths etc.

We found that Raid Pyrethrum based spray with the auto dispenser keeps them out of the house pretty good too.

1457394 2019-01-19 01:00:00 Thought I had beaten the barstewards. They came back in the night and invaded the pantry. Oh well I suppose it needed a good clean out, so here we are at 2pm having our lunch after stripping everything out and vacuuming and washing it all. All good for a time now :)

Thanks piroska, that idea of the No More Gaps has stopped the rotten little sods that thought I was putting out desert for them :)

1457395 2019-01-19 18:39:00 Make up a Boric Acid bait, you can find it on Google. They take it back to the nest and wipes the entire tribe out. Bryan (147)
1457396 2019-01-19 19:43:00 Yes, I battled them for 8 years, every poison known that I could get hold of.
I learned all about white footed ants, not having paid much attention to species of ants before.

They DON'T feed the nest sadly. And have multiple nests, but No More Gaps worked. Admittedly it doesn't last forever after a few years it would develop a few cracks, but it sure worked for ages and a touch up was fine with me.

It only kills off the one nest . Another one will pop up to take its place .
My section is riddled in ants , the driveway, the lawn, the gardens
The best I can hope for is keeping them out of the kitchen.

1457398 2019-01-21 00:05:00 I see a lot of ants outside, there appear to be several nests in the cracks in my concrete. I have never seen them in this house though, and I've been here almost 20 years (holy crap that's true).
I don't know what it is that keeps them out, but I'm glad of it.
