1454884 2018-10-24 18:59:00 I have just found some 5.25" floppies in the back of a cupboard. Yes I know I'm a hopeless hoarder, but it turns out I would quite like to get the data off them. Does anyone know of a service in Auckland that could transcribe them for me? Tony (4941)

You could do it your self if you could find a drive & drivers. I doubt if you could buy a new one now. But it is quite possible a member has one in a junkbox. PJ.

Datalab in Ak .

Or ring around PC repair shops , may be a cheaper option.
Or buy a very old PC of trademe . 5.25" drives used a data cable that wont connect to modern PC's

May be issues reading some of those floppies, given how old they are.

1454889 2018-10-24 20:54:00 I still have 5.25" drives in working condition (internal and external), knowing where I've stored them is the next question, last used 14 years ago when I decided to test the dinosaur out and relive some classic games.

If the data is important, get a pro to do it though.

1454891 2018-10-24 21:30:00 I think there still is an old system round here with one of those drives, but I don't have any coal to get it started. Driftwood (5551)

Looking on TradeMe could be an option . The data is potentially interesting rather than important, so I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money . It might help me answer the question in this ( . pcworld . co . nz/showthread . php?146670-The-first-PC-Was-it-really-that-long-ago" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz) thread about how much my first PC cost .
