1456902 2018-12-30 11:19:00 I don't think the Idea of a Militia is realistic in the modern age, that was addressed to a small degree on the video I linked as well.
As you say, aircraft carriers, atomic bombs, etc, not to mention tanks, fighter jets, and whatever other military hardware you care to name.

Take the formation of a militia out of the equation and there is no justification for public ownership of military grade hardware that you will convince me of.
Carry a gun so bears don't eat you, sure that's perfectly reasonable. Buy a tank so you can fight the government when the revolution comes? not so much.
Own an assault rifle for home "protection" ? nah I don't buy that at all.

.... and there's a problem here.....

"Assault Rifle" is such a Hollywood-esque term. Actually these are just very military-looking 22 and 223 rifles that are much more innocuous looking when you see what they look like in civilian usage:

9281

9282

These are pretty much the same caliber, although lever-actioned. There are however, many semi-automatic .22 and .223 rifles that I'll post them if you like - and these are identical to the 'Assault weapon" in fire power.
