2018-11-12 02:45:00 | A look in Easeus Partition Master at L Drive reveals more info,,,there is the Partition for the 'M' drive that has just shown up in This PC today. So the L Drive was not unalloacated as I thought it was. I am sure I used the Delete partition facility in easeus, but...perhaps I forgot to click the 'Apply' tab :annoyed:  | kioti (17360) | |
2018-11-12 02:51:00 | Using Easeus to look into the computer it shows the M Drive as a partition and that was not showing in the check I did of the L Drive after I used the Delete Partition facility in Easeus. So, it would seem that the L Drive was NOT unallocated space as it said it was when I viewed it in Easeus prior to disconnecting all HDD's and installing W10 v1803 last night. Perhaps I forgot to click the 'Apply' tab in Easeus after I had instructed it to delete partition. www.dropbox.com | kioti (17360) | |
2018-11-12 03:33:00 | Looking at the first picture, with 3x Windows .old folders the system wasn't wiped at all, its only been upgraded as well as having W7 still installed. You cant wipe the system drive IF it contains the Easeus software, the only way that would happen is if the software was on another bootable drive. The free version doesn't have the option to create a bootable CD. What you can do though, is click on the search, type in Disk Look for Disk Cleanup, open it, the first option, click on Clean up System Files , then go through and tick everything, INCLUDING Previous operating systems, under the window with the ticks it will show you how much it will recover, this will remove the windows.old folders which going by the picture is almost 90GB. The other option is to START AGAIN fresh----- boot from the Windows 10 media when it asks about the type of install, custom and wipe all partitions, this of course will delete EVERYTHING on the drive. It will ask for the License key, but as long as W10 has activated you can skip it, other wise enter your W7 key. Heres the process; www.groovypost.com BTW-- in the article it shows creating new partitions -- Stop there and carry on,no need to create partitions, once the original partitions are deleted windows WILL make new ones as it proceeds. Edited: Disconnect ALL the other drives first other wise you can by mistake wipe the wrong drives, (been there done that ) :D

2018-11-12 05:09:00 | wainuitech Thanks.... yep looks like I messed up instal W10. As for the drive labeled W7 (M: that is not a W7 OS installation, it is a partition I created and had saved an ISO copy of my W7 Installation DVD into. I will try the the things you suggested to remove all the unwanted pre 12/11/18 garbage in there. I could transfer all wanted data/files from the W7 HDD that has the corrupted ntoskrnk.exe over to one of my external HDD's that has the space and then wipe/format that HDD and instal the W10 to that. That W7 HDD doesn't show in the pics because its disconnected. .... and I don't think I gonna get it up and running again. I can set up to do the transfer/saving of data on that W7 HDD tonight and let it do the task while I sleep, I know it going to take 5-6 hours at least. As for Disconnecting all other drives before 'Performing' a new instal etc, I have been there and not done that a few times before and ended up with screwed MBR of the OS I was using. And when I tried that Clone of W10 to the 2TB HDD I ignored the voice saying to Disconnect ALL UN-necessary HDD's. ...I pay the Piper for that now with my beloved W7's demise. Thanks. Game Set Match.

2018-11-12 16:49:00 | wainuitech...late edit to my last post. What you are seeing in the pic is what is there now. The Easeus I used I had downloaded only a day or two ago so I could use it to rebuild MBR because the Easeus Partition Master I have is the Technical Version and for some godforsaken reason it would NOT do a Rebuild MBR, so I DL'd the Free Home version to do the job. As for the HDD with all the Windows Olds on it, that is the HDD that I installed the DL'd ISO burned to DVD W10 Pro v 1803 onto and when I did that there were no other HDD's connected. So how or why all those Win Olds and the other stuff showing on the HD I installed to got there I have no idea. That 160GB HD has been sitting on a shelf here for 12-24 months and was a drive from an older computer from which I got two 160GB drives and I have no recollection of having installed any OS to it at all since I got the computer and removed the HDD's from it. IF I had installed an OS to it then it would have been W7 and as I said earlier... when I looked at the HDD in Easeus Partition Master Free to home users app that partition was unallocated ., with an MBR partition that I left in situ, perhaps I should have deleted it as well. There was no other partitions showing at all, no Primary / Extended, zilch. Yet, after the instal of the v1803 W10 Pro it bought back from the grave Windows Olds, MSOCache and all the other folders/files now visible on that HDD........... When the instal of W10 v1803 did start last night( night! huh ..at about 3am yesterday I was almost asleep and did fall asleep, waking to find onscreen the "Lets get started" and I sat and started entering all my details it requested and signed in creating User name /password, MS account details .. I omitted entering a License key because I hadn't noted one down and as I had Activated W10 on the same computer but a different HDD it would make the fresh installation of W10 Activated, which it did. So that's all good, and when I get the new 2GB HDD to again reinstal W10 v1803 to, I will be good to go again. I am going out to purchase a 2TB Sata HDD today, solely for a fresh instal of the W10 x64 Pro v1803 using the DVD I created from the mediacreation tool DL'd ISO. Re: The W7 x64 Pro that this thread was initially about.. I will leave that as it is now and attempt manually loading a new ntoskrnl.exe that I have DL'd from the internet to the Windows /System32 and System 32 WOW folders...deleting any that are there if there is one or 2 of them to be deleted and see it that gets the W7 up and running , if only so I can get all the important files and folders off the HDD and then I will perform a LLF to the HDD and either have it for storage or whatever. 5:41 am Tuesday now.... I have had 5 hours sleep in the past 48 hours and I am hitting the hay as the light of day begins. ciao and thanks

2018-11-12 20:39:00 | Forget about that Easeus program. Just delete the partitions in windows setup when you install Windows Dont get windows files from some site online. You're asking for trouble. If you're seeing files that were on the hdd before you're not deleting the partitions before you install windows.
