| 1457233 | 2019-01-10 22:18:00 | SWMBO bakes a lovely fruit cake for Christmas but sadly I had the last slice yesterday. I even picked up all of the crumbs from the cake tin. Looks as though I will have to wait for the coming Christmas for the next Christmas cake.:( |

We got a free cake from Hanmer Lions, sadly when I opened it the box contained one fruit cake sans marzipan or icing which is the whole point of Christmas cakes. Not that Christmas is a real thing its just a fake replacement for the Solstice festival. |

Not that Christmas is a real thing its just a fake replacement for the Solstice festival. gary67, you could be right with brandy, father and grandfather were caterers/bakers and it's been 4 score years and more since we were in the old bake-house watching how things were made, and they used proper layered icing too. Part of the old building still stands on the current owners land, when we up there 3 years ago. lurking. |
