1455460 2018-11-09 22:26:00 My external USB-3 750GB 'My Passport' does not show in 'This PC' but is showing in Devices and Printers and Device Manager.
Can anyone please suggest how can I gain access to this drive.
TIA, Peter.

1455461 2018-11-09 22:58:00 1st, open Computer Management, then under Storage - Disk Management, see if its showing there on the right, and make sure its got a Drive letter, if it hasn't right click the drive - Assign a letter.

You haven't said what OS you are using but you can get to Computer management Via the Control Panel or Search.

1455462 2018-11-09 23:23:00 Easiest way in windows 10 is to right click the start button, disk management is on the pop up list.

Have you used this drive before? maybe it's not even formatted.

1455463 2018-11-10 02:04:00 I have Win-10 Pro. And have used this drive in the past few months and contains files I have used before.
In Disc Management I have a red+ at Disc 3 Unknown
In the box Initialise Disc
I am informed I need to initialise a disc before Logical Disc Manager can access it.
I then have Select discs with a tick beside Disc 3.
Should I select GUID or MBR?

1455464 2018-11-10 02:17:00 Is there anything of importance on the drive ?

Looks like its lost its partitioning, (could be a partial drive failure) which means unless you're careful you WILL lose everything on that drive . You may need to run data recovery software over the drive if you want anything back from it .

Have read of these - along with Options:

1455465 2018-11-11 20:13:00 Ask yourself, how important is the data on the drive.

If its critical data, STOP playing with it, DO NOT plug it back in, take it to a data recovery specialist. (Not a PC repair shop)
You could be making any data recovery impossible by powering it up

If the data isnt worst $1000 for a data recovery, then carry as usual
Otherwise, plugging in a failing drive can could cause it to scratch up the platters. I know of that happening

1455466 2018-11-12 20:17:00 I think I have gained a paperweight.
Thank you all for your help.
