| 1455204 | 2018-10-31 15:10:00 | I understand that the AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 is the best bang for the buck and is better than my i5 4690. So I figure I might as well build me a AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 computer, not that I need one but because I'm bored and will build it to learn mostly. So by building that computer I figure I will study each component and take about a hundred hours on it just to be doing something. I understand that the RAM takes 3200 and I guess that is the what I should put in? Also I only want to put in 8 GB's of Ram because I never seen my computers come close to using 8 GB's of Ram so putting in 16 GB's of RAM for me would only serve as an ego boots and I can always put in the other 8 GB's of RAM at a later date. So I'm figuring on Kingston Technology HyperX Predator Black 8GB Kit 3200MHz DDR4 which comes in 2X4 GB's and for only $100. | 1455205 | 2018-10-31 18:30:00 | It would pay to research RAM kits that are known to work well with Ryzen. The only one I know for sure off the top of my head is Gskill FlareX DDR4 3200. Apparently the best RAM for Ryzens uses Samsung B die memory chips. I bought cheaper RAM based on Hynix chips, Gskill Sniper DDR4 3200 in this case, and had to drop it back to 2933 in order to get my system stable. 2933 is the officially supported RAM speed but faster RAM does work, just not universally. Also the BIOS will default to 2133 if you don't set the XMP profile or manually set the RAM speed. And the reason for all the fuss about RAM speed with ryzen, the CPU uses the memory speed in it's core as part of the infinity fabric architecture to communicate between cores. Because of that CPU performance scales really well with both RAM speed and latency. Of course nothing is stopping you from buying cheaper RAM and running at lower speeds, it'll just lose a little performance as a result. |

| 1455207 | 2018-11-01 01:53:00 | It looks promising but I can't say for sure. This is what I read turbofuture.com and it does list Ripjaws V series in a table lower down the page. It doesn't have to be Gskill, the FlareX is just the most widely known RAM that works well with Ryzen. It's also what AMD supplied to reviewers withthe CPUs when they released. |
