1486998 2022-06-23 07:06:00 There's a difference between water resistant and Water proof.

My Camera is claimed as water proof to 10Mtrs, dont know about 10 Mtrs, but know its good for 2mtrs, when in Vanuatu it spent 1/2 the time under water taking pictures or filming and worked perfectly. Only thing they had in the booklet was DO NOT open the Card holder/Battery compartment under water. (obvious really). Also if in the sea, rinse in fresh water after usage.

1487000 2022-06-23 09:33:00 I'm sure the Lawyers pulled all their tricks, but the fact remains Samsung copped a $14m fine for their trouble.

I noticed in another article they had already been fined $9m for another offense.

I wonder if Samsung will get sick of doing it before the Aussies get sick of charging them.

I'm backing the Aussies. :D

1487001 2022-06-24 07:09:00 I wouldn't swim with a phone even if it did say that.
Underwater cameras tend to be a bit specialised and who needs to txt when swimming?

1487002 2022-06-24 08:47:00 I took my Samsung phone for swimming lessons, quite unintentionally but without any ill effects to the phone.

I had to be treated for shock, horror and quite possibly PTSD after discovering it in my pocket when paddling in the deep end.

Why do they put pockets in swimming shorts?

1487003 2022-06-26 23:54:00 $14Mil is nothing for a Billion dollar company

I'd bet thats not even a small % of their marketing budget

From last year
"The company is the fourth-largest advertiser in the world, spending roughly $9.7 billion in measured media, according to the most recent figures. Last year, it generated about $200 billion in revenue. "

make them recall the phones, that would be a real punishment .

Pockets help for placing jewelry or watch in it. I was diving for mussels once, and my Seiko dive watch was catching on rocks and seaweed.

You probably can’t txt anyway- I doubt capacitive touch screens would work properly underwater without being in some special case. You’d have to use the physical buttons to take pictures.

All very well, but I'm picking $23M to help the Australian Tax Payer may reflect in the Australian CEO's annual bonus. :D

But not next year. ;)
