2022-06-09 02:28:00 | "To help keep your account secure, from May 30, 2022, Google no longer supports the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password." Gmail & Outlook 2016,2013 Due to security changes gmail is rolling out... Gmail now sees Outlook 2016 as insecure , so cant connect as is Gmail's option for insecure apps is now gone. What other PC email apps will Gmail see as secure . ie OAuth support Outlook365 will work. Win10 mail works , if you have Win10 . Any others ? Will EMCLIENT still connect to gmail as is ? (possibly not, from a few messages on their forum ) I dont want to have to setup 2fa & an app password , unless no other options . Not my PC or gmail a/c . 2fa will confuse the heck out of this person cheers

2022-06-09 07:09:00 | EM client is still working right now but not SWMBO's outlook 365. I don't want to set up 2FA either just for outlook but looks like I probably will have to.

2022-06-09 09:35:00 | I just saw this www.emclient.com "eM Client now features OAuth authentication with Gmail " I might try emclient for his gmail email a/c . I tried to get the guy in question to use Webmail, but he really didnt like it , wasnt interested . I can see 2fa causing confusion for him in the future , If I went down that path . Unfortunately, Office365 no longer supports install on Win7 , so thats also now not an option for him . His old PC is really slow, needs to be junked anyway .

2022-06-09 09:41:00 | Outlook 365 supports OAUTH , so should work with gmail. You may need to resetup a new Outlook profile & use autodiscover (for OAuth ), rather than manually add imap settings .

2022-06-09 09:49:00 | She uses Pop instead of Imap and its not worth my life to suggest changing. I would need to work out how to import all the folders she has setup in outlook under the inbox, could I just import them. Can't do anything tonight will be tomorrow after lunch.

2022-06-09 11:30:00 | I am Outlook 365 and use POP - IMAP was too limited. I wish Microsoft would get far more aggressive with Google and insist they stop buggering around with pretenses that their product is more secure.. Google = Russia and Microsoft Ukraine -the Google invasion On Microsoft Community forum an MVP said you could in Google account turn off 2 factor authentication and after next reboot choose an option to select Trusted Devices then you could use Outlook as before. I have disabled 2 factor authentication but no such option of selecting Trusted Devices appears- my 2 devices laptop and phone are listed correctly in Google account. Any ideas? I have too many Gmail contacts to just abandon Gmail.

2022-06-10 04:15:00 | Deleted the account and re added it and now it works, but under the new account I have an inbox under an inbox and trying to figure out how to make it one as it has emails in both | gary67 (56) | |
2022-06-10 09:25:00 | trying to figure out how to make it one as it has emails in both Ditch them. Save the contacts.....and then if the info is needed, copy the content of the emails, paste into an appropriately named file and save the files. The only time I keep emails as such is purchase notification emails, and only until the item is here. Bloody gmail...sneaky. Give everyone free email originally, large storage etc etc and then when everyone has signed up, and been using it for ages, start with your conditions....
