2022-08-07 07:09:00 | This Gentleman Thoughty2 (www.youtube.com) explains it very well why new music is Shype Bye god !!! You're 100% right with that, watched the whole clip, and  Couldn't be more true. Todays music is sh1t, most of the "New Stuff" has roots back to earlier versions, or more to the point WTF is that rubbish (todays music). Many people say todays music is good, but after watching that video he's on the spot. Only have to look at a LOT of parties what music is played ;) As for Judith Durham :( real Talent As the comments " little did they know that their free concert at the Myer Music Bowl in their home town of Melbourne would break attendance records for the Southern hemisphere and TV ratings records for Australia! That's what my Dad said about the 60s music that we played so loudly. He was brought up with the likes of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra and did not have any time for the music of the 60s but he did concede that the Beatles' music was quite good. He said that they, at least, wrote music with a tune, unlike most of the rock n roll.

Not all modern music is rubbish. but the crap churned out by the music factories certainly is. That video is actually very insightful into modern human behaviour as regards entertainment and attention spans that actually apply to all of us. |

2022-08-08 21:02:00 | I grudgingly take it back about screaming. That was ok, but nothing that would make me play it a second time.... ;) Compare it to the song by Olivia N J that I put in with my post of her death a few minutes ago. Ken

2022-08-09 07:05:00 | I've watched that video before, it makes some good arguments but is mainly focussed on common pop music which is not something I listen to much anyway. There is good music coming out all the time if you look for it, you may not like anything that I do but I'm sure there's something you would. One of the good things about youtube etc is some of todays artists can make a living without ever involving a record company. I also think people have selective memories, I have heard a particular decade like for example the 80's referred to as the golden age of pop music over the years and while there is some great music from that era what about all the stuff that disappeared never to be thought about again. When we look back we tend to compare all the good music that endured the test of time with basically everything around today, not a fair comparison really. Maybe compare all the rubbish music from the past to all the rubbish music from today and see which is worse :)

2022-08-10 06:38:00 | Well said Dugimodo. I am a geriatric (75) but I listen to music from all decades. I think Gangsta rap is absolute misogynistic crap, but some rap has meaningful lyrics I do like Lady Gaga' songs today e.g., Hold My Hand from Top Gun Maverick, but again not all her songs. YouTube Music and Spotify are great for discovering new artists or unheard songs from old artists. Remember when we only had radio stations basically only the top selling tunes from Hit Parade artists were played. YouTube music has enabled me to find other not well publicised songs/instrumentals I had not previously heard. LPs in the old days were very expensive- 39 shillings and 6pence in 1965 -and often you only really liked 3 or 4 songs on them, but you had to buy the entire album. I have also found that in recent years I have come to enjoy some songs by artists whom I previously disliked (again in some cases because I have discovered songs by them that I had previously been unaware of). Conclusion -no single decade can wear the title Best Music Ever. Neil
