1487324 2022-07-16 06:55:00 You won’t believe this but after a day at home she took very ill about 1am next morning so I rang the Ambulance and they were here in no time.

They went through their standard procedures and advised that she was off back to Hospital quick smart. On the way they did a Covid test and wouldn’t you know it, Positive. :groan:

Later that day I tracked down a doctor who was involved in treating her for the Septicaemia and he advises me that they think the Septicaemia came from a biopsy they had taken and the reason she was sent home was to try and avoid the Covid that is rampant within the Hospital.

So now she is in total isolation, and I’m confined to Barracks.

But this has given me time to reflect on my own time in Hospital and I took the following photo a number of years ago now and nothing seems to have changed.

Zqwerty was dead right when he posted:

“the organisation has been poor ever since middle-management started running the show and doctors were relegated to functionaries in the executive operation of the hospital.”

1487325 2022-07-16 08:20:00 It happened when hospitals were made to become businesses and that they need t make a profit like other businesses do.

*** they are a service not a business.

My sister was a staff nurse in the UK for many years, when she was forced to retire at 50 with a brain tumour the hospital that she had worked at since age 16 tried to avoid paying out her pension. It took a trip to the union lawyer to make them see sense.

1487326 2022-07-16 10:08:00 Having spent about 12 hours in the ED with my mother (in pre Covid days), while they did a whole lot of sod all, I am left to wonder if some of the delays are deliberate...

If ED is 'reported' as all beds full, and the waiting room full for 12 hours a day... well, the squeaky wheel gets the funding. More funding means more staff, more gear, and spreads the work load lighter per person, allowing Dr Dolittle to do less.

I'd hate to think that's true, but the real possibility exists.

1487327 2022-07-17 02:07:00 Here is another great effort taken about the same time as the “Way Out -Exit” sign.

This photo is of a common Photo Copier.

In the background you’ll see three notices and here is a photo closer up of those Notices and Warnings.

11347

A bit hard to read but one is a “Radiation Warning” and the other a “Chemical Warning” and I can’t read the third.

My point is why would anyone post such warnings for a common everyday Photo Copier? :illogical

The obviously concerned citizen who posted the warnings was only too keenly aware that some potential copy practitioners would not be wearing orange safety socks, nor gloves or masks, never mind respirators. This community minded person probably went on to be a game changer in OSH, god bless her/his helpful zeal.
