| 1487313 | 2022-07-10 22:02:00 | According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), lemons are one of the healthiest choices for people with diabetes. Lemon water has the effect of stabilising blood sugar levels, preventing and reducing diabetes complications. Diabetics can drink lemon water in moderation, which is of great benefit to improving symptoms. And where is the research article link? Utter crap. My husband was diabetic type 1, he liked lemons. Didn't do him any good. My mum is type 2. She's mental about lemons, she was eating one or two a day, juice in water and so on... Didn't do her any good and the dr told her to stop cause of the acid. Ruins your teeth you know. Or in her case, her dentures. And it did. Searching for this I found a lot of those "health" articles, and a bunch of them say lemon and honey. Well the honey will up your sugar levels. It makes no difference if it's raw, brown or white sugar, or honey or any other sweet syrup. What causes problems isn't the diabetes, it's the swings in sugar levels. Low messes with your brain. High causes all those things you read about, eye damage, kidney problems, slow healing and thus gangrene. Keep your sugars within range and you avoid them. Husband erred on low. He had a bad habit of I'll Just Finish This. He damaged his brain in the end. He did not get retinopathy, kidney disease or wound issue. My mum was high and now has some retinopathy and kidney damage. SHe was on Lantus until some trendy doc took her off it and put her on Metformin. Other than the side effects she got from that, it didn't work well. Then she went back on Lantus and refused to ever have anything to do with Metformin. Her levels stabilised. Also there is no "elitropin". There is "heliotropin" And it's not a lemon only thing. |
