2022-06-15 09:32:00 | I did it from Paris to Lyon on the way to Milan. So smooth. Not like our rickety old things that we had at the time

2022-06-19 01:38:00 | We rode the Eurostar from London to the Gare du Nord in Paris (about 20 years ago) via the Channel Tunnel - 300kph - 2½ hours. And like the TGV (as psycik says) the Eurostar is very smooth. It is also very quiet. There was no swaying, as you might think, and it was very easy to walk down the aisle to the loo. We really enjoyed the trip.:clap | Roscoe (6288) | |
2022-07-08 04:12:00 | Have you noticed the difference? I watch a few train videos and there are quite a few shots taken at railway crossings and you can hear the sound of the crossing bells - some are mechanical and some are electronic. If you listen carefully you can tell the difference. The mechanical bells have a very solid ding to them. As well as the ringing sound you can hear the clapper hit the bell. There are two sets of bells and one set sometimes gets out of step with the other set and you can hear each bell ding slightly apart. The electronic bells do not go ding - they ring. You do not hear the clapper hit the bell, mostly because there is no bell. The sound is a manufactured electronic sound. Quite different. Have a close listen next time you are at a railway crossing. If you listen carefully I'm certain you will discern the difference.

2022-07-08 04:42:00 | Haven't you commented on this before? Ken ;) Perhaps I have. My memory is not as good as it used to be. But I don't see any harm in bringing it up again.

2022-07-08 06:22:00 | You would like this trip Roscoe! I would too, but SWMBO wouldn't :) youtu.be Ken Thank you, Ken. Very interesting. Although SWMBO is not a train lover she came with me when we travelled the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth and the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin. Both trips look very similar both taking three days with tours on the way. As they said in the video, it is a bit expensive but well worth it.:)
