| 1486861 | 2022-06-14 08:47:00 | Was given this Sapphire Radeon RX580 by my friend as he upgraded. :) Came back and installed it on my Win11 PC. It started up OK but hangs before I could install the driver. I had to do a hard reset but without joy. As it was working fine on my friend's Win10 PC, I took out the card from my Win11 and installed it on my older Win10 PC. It started up and runs perfectly OK ... Is this a known issue with Win11? If not, is there anything I can do? Cheers. |

| 1486864 | 2022-06-14 12:49:00 | Windows will automatically try to install a driver when it detects the card... Have a look here (windowsloop.com) to change the Windows auto driver install option. Once disabled it should just install a generic VGA driver, if it doesn't crash when you load into Windows run the AMD driver package.... make sure you download it first of course. If all succesful, re-enable the auto driver install option. I am working on the presumption you either have an iGPU on your CPU or another GPU that you can run for the purpose of making the auto dtiver install change. If not, try to boot into Safe Mode with the 580 and change the auto driver install option that way... this would also be a good way to confirm a hardware fault with the 580... if it crashes then could be an issue with the 580 if no crash on Safe mode then it's likely a driver issue. What I would do , is 1st download DDU www.guru3d.com ( links are down the page near bottom) boot into safe mode Run it and select the AMD Drivers, TOTALLY Remove them, Select the option to install new Card, this way when it starts its running on Basic inbuilt Drivers only. If it Freezes after that , there's a problem with the card. Install The Actual Drivers www.amd.com The Win 10 drivers more than likely wont be compatible. Simply installing W11 Drivers over the top will often cause all sorts of clashes and problems |

| 1486866 | 2022-06-29 01:28:00 | Update: Installed the card to a Win10 machine it works 'perfectly', but only lasted fro 3 days. It then failed completely, black screen, no boot. Removed the card, the Win10 boots up OK (with onboard video). I can now confirmed that the card is faulty. Did some Googling, since the card is confirmed dead, (no warranty, of course) I removed the cooling fan etc, left only the PCB,. put it into the 'Oven' to bake it for 10 mins @190°C -- nothing to lose :D ... After the baking process has completed, took out the card, re-assembled the fan, etc. ... Put the card back in to my Win11 PC -- it's running OK since this morning at around 10:00 am. Ran Furmark stress test for an hour, showing good temperature of 74°C At this stage, can I assume that the card is back to life? How long will it last, well, it's another good question... :D Keep my fingers crossed ... |

They might now fail in the next 5 years :) Have you contaminated the oven with toxic fumes that can come off a baked vid card , supposedly , as some claim . Has anyone really checked if that does contaminate the oven ? |

You do realise this cooking the card is a fix myth? More likely to damage it - more if it was faulty to begin with. Son had an issue with his 3 yr old car on weekend. I said: Do the driver Take it out and clean the fans out carefully with a natural bristle brush (while being earthed). It worked - so probably just got too hot, but he will upgrade at end of year anyway. |

Will also be a good chance of damaging other components due to the heat. Perhaps a better way would be a heat gun across the soldered areas ? |
