| 1154794 | 2010-11-20 03:28:00 | I have the mild misfortune of buying a HP DV5 (1009ax) although a nice-ish machine it has a few design flaws, mostly around trying to heat itself up to the point of meltdown. in mild to medium load conditions it gets up to about 76 degrees, under load 85. not good. (its an AMD Turion X2 2Ghz) Anyway, what I am wondering, is there a laptop case that I could put the sucker in with room to add better cooling. (excess heat caused by hopeless design) I may or may not go through with the plan, it depends on what the solutions are, also before anyone mentions it, the vents are clean as of once a month. |

| 1154796 | 2010-11-20 07:12:00 | got one. then got bored of carrying it everywhere. forgot to mention. the design is so effectvie that by raising the laptop's left rear corner by less than 1cm will decrease idle temp from 79 to 65 in 12 secs and 55 in 1min? Fail HP design. usually i prop it up with all sorts of useless items. if i'm around for a while then the stand/fan comes out but its just a pain after a while of open/closing |

| 1154797 | 2010-11-21 05:11:00 | I have a DV5 also. The cooling fans dont really make a difference. My one went to about 90 degrees after 10 min of web browsing. I had it serviced by HP and they changed heatsink and fan and have charged some $250. The temp after 10 min is now only about 50 degrees. | sahilcc7 (15483) | ||

I'll get a new HS for $25-$60 and some thermal grease. |
