1153902 2010-11-17 11:25:00 I have cleaned out software i dont use. i have ccleanered. i have removed things that dont need to start up with windows.
I have run Trojan remover.

Whenever i play an mp3 on foobar2000, while browsing firefox, or even just on the desktop, the sound lags (including windows sounds) and the loading lights starts flickering like crazy.

This has only started happening during the last few hours.

Should i try a Defrag?

I have done some windows updates if that helps.

Windows Task Manager doesn't show anything suspicious.

Oh, and it works fine in safe mode.

My hard drive is not dieing. i removed my dieing hard drive and replaced it with a good one of mine which i know works perfect.

1153903 2010-11-17 19:17:00 try reinstalling it, and check you hard drive for errors/bad sectors/surface test.
also test your ram, and what you can do is go to task manager and add the read/write columns to the apps list, and see what is reading/writing to the disk.
Failing that, post a hjt log :)

1153908 2010-11-18 00:36:00 @jareemon: task manager does not have any read/write colums, or options.

Step 1: open task manager
Step 2: click the processes tab at the top
Step 3: click "View" (at the top)
Step 4: in the "View" menu, click "select columns"
Step 5: in the box that pops up check the columns you would like to be included in the processes tab, then click ok

1153909 2010-11-18 00:38:00 its the whole thing.
even my start up is taking ages.

Definitly post a HJT (free.antivirus.com) log.

1153910 2010-11-18 01:40:00 i will post an HJT log after the Defrag is done.

The dfrag might fix things, as its never had a defrag.
goodiesguy (15316)
1153911 2010-11-18 05:01:00 the defrag was a 43%. then, my computer froze.

I get to the welcome screen, and my screen goes black.

I boot into safemode, my mouse stops, the icons all load, then, my screen goes black.

How to fix this please?

And don't say Format and reinstall. There has gotta be a easier fix.

I can't post a hijack this log.

I have tried all different sticks of ram, tried different cmos batteries.

It is not the hard drive. it is not the ram.

My computer is not over heating, as i have 2 fans, 1 on the front, 1 on the back, and the cpu fan.
